Grants Available

Employability Dublin South will provide you with all the information your business needs to support your staff with any possible workplace supports they may need.

WSS Wage Subsidy Scheme

The Wage Subsidy Scheme provides financial incentives to employers, outside the public sector, to employ disabled people who work a minimum of 21 hours per week. The employer is paid a subsidy of €5.30 an hour for the hours worked. The maximum annual subsidy to the employer is €10,748 based on a 39-hour week.

Employee Retention Grant

The purpose of the Employee Retention Grant Scheme is to assist employers to retain employees who acquire an illness, condition or impairment which impacts on their ability to carry out their job. It helps to explore the employees continuing capacity to operate as a productive member of the workforce.

Work Adaption Grant

This grant is designed for people with a disability who’ve been offered employment, or are about to be re-deployed, promoted or become self-employed. If any of these changes means a more accessible or adapted workplace is required for you to do your job, your employer may get a grant towards the costs. Examples include minor modifications such as ramps or toilets, alarm systems with flashing lights, equipment adaptation, such as voice synthesizers for computers or amplifiers for telephones.

Job Plus Scheme

JobsPlus is an employer incentive which encourages and rewards employers who employ jobseekers on the Live Register. Employers are paid an incentive monthly in arrears over a 2-year period. It provides 2 levels of regular payments, €7,500 and €10,000 respectively.

Youth Employment Support Scheme

The Youth Employment Support Scheme (YESS) is a work experience placement programme which is specifically targeted at young jobseekers aged 18-24 years of age who are long-term unemployed or who face barriers to employment.

Frequently asked question

NO – As long as the person is trained for the tasks they need to do and are capable of understanding the task. We can arrange for the person to get a doctor’s cert. The Irish Insurance Federation confirmed that an employer’s liability insurance does not increase when the employer takes on an employee with a disability.
Yes, except in the following circumstances. There are some exceptions to those entitled to receive the national minimum wage. The legislation does not apply to a person employed by a close relative (for example, a spouse or parent) nor does it apply to those in statutory apprenticeships. Also some employees such as young people under 18 and trainees are only guaranteed a reduced or sub-minimum rate of the national minimum wage.

Our Service is provided on a one to one basis, and our process always starts by getting to know the jobseeker and assessing their skills, knowledge, motivation, experience and transferable skills before we start looking for work. We will not forward someone for a position unless we feel they are suited for the role. The selection process may then involve an unpaid “job trial” or “working interview,” for the preferred candidate which may run for up to 7 weeks and for which we would provide a training allowance for our client.

Just like any other staff member, if it’s not working out you try and sort out any difficulties. Through EmployAbility Dublin South you have the assistance of a job coach to support you as well as the new employee. Solutions can usually be found, but if it’s not possible, the employment may come to an end as it would with any employee in accordance with your terms and conditions of employment. However this is a rare occurrence as you have us to troubleshoot and help overcome any potential problem.

As with all staff members, the same terms and conditions apply to an employee receiving support from EmployAbility Dublin South.

Of course. We will always make ourselves available to help answer any questions and help in any way we can.
